The party hears the "plunging of large, heavy animals" in the thickets. * **Nocturnal Advantage:** The creatures of the plateau are adapted to hunt in the "mystic twilight land" of the summit. * **Scent and Sight Tracking:** Large carnivorous dinosaurs track prey by scent (bringing their nose to the ground) and by sight once the prey is flushed into the open. ## Examples from the Story Malone is tracked through the jungle by a carnivorous dinosaur that "hops" like a kangaroo.
